Treatment Philosophy

I offer a supportive and collaborative therapy environment to help people gain a greater understanding of themselves and make desired changes in their lives. Clients find me to be warm, empathic, and a good listener. My therapeutic style is interactive, as I am responsive to and engaged with my clients, offering tools and guidance when needed. I have an extensive background in short-term therapy, through which I help people identify a focus of therapy and work toward achieving their goals in a timely manner. I also am experienced in providing longer term therapy when a deeper examination of the factors contributing to one's situation makes more sense and when more time is needed to create and sustain improvements in health and well-being.

I have been trained in and practice a number of different therapeutic approaches and techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, relational therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based therapies. In the initial therapy sessions, I will determine with you what therapeutic focus and approach will be most beneficial given your specific issues and goals for therapy. As therapy progresses, I will collaborate with you to work on those things most important to you and talk with you about your therapy experience to ensure that you are getting what you want out of therapy. Throughout the therapy process, I will provide a supportive environment in which you can feel safe as you go about making improvements in your life.
